Description
We're looking for a thoughtful, collaborative front-end engineer to help us build beautifully crafted, intuitive educational experiences. This role goes beyond writing great code - it's about joining a creative team that values learning, communication, and empathy. Key Qualifications
3+ years of professional experience building responsive, performant web applications. Deep understanding of modern front-end development principles, including component-based architecture and state management. Proficiency in one or more modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g. React, Svelte, Vue, or Next.js). Experience with CSS3 and preprocessors like Sass (e.g. authoring mixins, partials, and utility libraries). Knowledge of web standards including semantics, accessibility (a11y), internationalization (i18n), and localization (l10n). Familiarity with front-end build and development tools such as Node.js, NPM/Yarn, Vite, Webpack, and Vercel. Working knowledge of performance optimization, testing strategies, and production monitoring. Nice to Have
Experience integrating with GraphQL or RESTful APIs. Experience building design systems from the ground up - including component libraries, theming, documentation, and developer ergonomics. Experience with Ember.js, particularly in transitioning or integrating with other modern frameworks. Experience with rapid prototyping of ideas, including building functional UI/UX concepts for early feedback and iteration. Exposure to PHP for maintaining or interfacing with backend systems or legacy tools. Experience with iOS development using Swift or Objective-C. Understanding of micro-frontend and microservice architectures, including practical experience in federated modular codebases, shared libraries, and service communication patterns. Responsibilities
Partner closely with faculty, designers, and engineers to translate educational content into interactive web-based tools. Build and maintain modular, scalable front-end codebases that support our clients evolving needs. Contribute to the development of a consistent, accessible, and extensible design system, and help drive its adoption across multiple products. Help define the technical strategy for delivering offerings in a micro-frontend and microservice architecture. Champion accessibility, performance, and maintainability across our digital experiences. You Bring
A strong sense of craft and attention to detail. Excellent collaboration and communication skills, especially when working with non-technical members. A willingness to share, learn, and evolve in a team that values curiosity and diverse perspectives. A passion for education - and excitement about building tools that help people learn in thoughtful, inspiring ways. Skills
