Overview:

Qualcomm AI Research is seeking world‑class researchers in artificial intelligence. Our global, multi‑disciplinary team spans software, hardware, and systems. We contribute technology worldwide by partnering with business teams across mobile, compute, automotive, cloud, and IoT. Our research covers general theory and techniques enabling deployment on resource‑constrained devices, with a focus on Generative AI, LLMs, Multi‑Modal Foundation Models, Reasoning, Reinforcement Learning, Agentic AI, and Autonomy.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct cutting‑edge research in efficient generative AI: LLMs, Multi‑Modal Foundations, LLM Reasoning, Reinforcement Learning, Agentic AI, and others.

Lead efforts to transition research into production‑ready solutions, enabling real‑world applications and commercial impact.

Develop creative solutions considering practical constraints on devices.

Implement and evaluate potential solutions in both simulation and on‑device environments.

Contribute to Qualcomm’s strategic initiatives in efficient AI and embedded intelligence.

Publish in top‑tier conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ICCV, ACL, EMNLP).

Required Qualifications:

Proven research excellence demonstrated by publications in top‑tier AI/ML conferences.

Deep expertise in Generative AI, Multi‑Modal Foundation Models, Vision‑Language Models, Reasoning, Reinforcement Learning, and Agentic AI.

Hands‑on experience with model development pipelines: training, fine‑tuning, evaluation, and optimization.

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields—or MS with 4+ years of AI research or related work experience.

Research experience in developing vision‑language models for understanding and generation.

Understanding of efficient architectures suitable for on‑edge deployment and experience in on‑device AI deployment on mobile or edge devices.

Familiarity with model optimization techniques such as pruning, quantization, and distillation.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of related work experience.

OR PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, with 6+ months of experience developing and/or optimizing machine learning models, systems, platforms, or methods.

Pay Range and Compensation:

$159,100.00 – $238,700.00 (location based). Additional benefits include a competitive annual discretionary bonus program, RSU grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
