Job Description The Distributed Database team is responsible for a globally distributed, elastic, cloud‑native relational database. This database combines the best of NoSQL and NewSQL technologies with the enterprise capabilities of Oracle RDBMS. Our projects span all layers of the database kernel—such as parallel query execution, transaction management, replication, and external components including client‑side drivers, intelligent query routers, and load balancers. We also support emerging technologies in the distributed database, such as Vector and Text Search, Microservices, Machine Learning, Blockchain, and Graphs. We are looking for motivated and talented system engineers who want to make significant contributions to highly visible and strategic projects by solving challenging problems in distributed computing, high availability, and extreme scalability.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures, defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing, and debugging of software applications or operating systems. Work is non‑routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical and business skills. A leading contributor individually and as a team member, you will provide direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience, 10 years of software engineering or related experience. Career Level – IC5.

Responsibilities

Experience and/or interest in database internals, distributed systems, replication technologies, load balancing algorithms, and design trade‑offs among consistency, availability, and performance in distributed systems.

Expert‑level proficiency in C programming.

Fluency in SQL; PL/SQL is a plus.

Solid background in relational database internals and operating system concepts.

Good understanding of concurrent programming concepts.

Strong software engineering and debugging skills.

Track record of delivering high‑quality software under time constraints.

Strong collaboration skills, particularly in geographically distributed teams.

Qualifications Certain US customer or client‑facing roles may require compliance with applicable requirements, such as immunization and occupational health mandates.

Range and benefit information is provided for US locations only. Salary range USD $96,800 – $251,600 per year, with eligibility for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
