Test Engineer
in San Diego, CA. This Contract position supports R&D manufacturing equipment, preventative maintenance, and the design and iteration of equipment and sensor testing components.
Responsibilities
Maintain R&D manufacturing equipment, coordinating preventative maintenance and calibrations.
Design and iterate equipment components for existing and novel sensor manufacturing equipment.
Design and iterate sensor testing components for functional test equipment.
Solve critical engineering challenges related to hardware and electrical testing.
Utilize in‑house and external machine shops to fabricate parts per defined requirements.
Execute well‑designed experiments to assess suitability of designed parts and critically review peer work.
Draft and edit formal documents related to equipment, protocols, and reports.
Gather and summarize efficiency or quality observations, contributing to continuous process improvement.
Perform hands‑on work with fabrication and test equipment (machine shop tools, 3D printers, analytical equipment, vision/test hardware).
Apply controller/automation experience (LabVIEW, RaspberryPi, Arduino).
Draft requirements, drawings, flow diagrams, or algorithms to describe processes.
Run self‑directed projects, manage timelines, and execute in a collaborative environment.
Contribute to intellectual property development through innovative design and documentation.
Skills & Qualifications
Test automation and CAD (SolidWorks or OnShape).
Statistical tools (ANOVA, t‑tests, Gauge R&R) for test method validation and measurement system analysis.
Experience supporting equipment lifecycle activities using Maximo equipment management system.
Experience Level Intermediate Level
Employment Type & Location Contract – San Diego, CA (Fully onsite)
Pay & Benefits Hourly Pay: $45.00 – $50.00/hr
