Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee daily operations of our bouquet and floral arrangement production lines in our Torrance, CA facility. This role ensures efficient workflow, high product quality, proper staffing, and compliance with floral safety and handling standards. The Production Manager will lead a diverse team, optimize production schedules, manage fresh flower inventory, and ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on time for our supermarket clients.
Key Responsibilities Production Operations
Oversee day-to-day production of bouquets and floral arrangements in a high-volume facility.
Ensure all orders are completed on time and meet customer quality requirements.
Create and adjust production schedules based on daily, weekly, and seasonal volume.
Manage production line flow, process improvements, and labor deployment.
Supervise, train, and motivate production leads and line staff.
Conduct performance evaluations and promote a culture of accountability and teamwork.
Ensure cross‑training and scalability for seasonal demand surges.
Quality & Compliance
Enforce quality control standards to ensure consistent, attractive, and supermarket-ready bouquets.
Oversee proper floral handling practices, hydration, and temperature control.
Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment in line with OSHA and facility policies.
Inventory & Materials Management
Work with procurement to ensure adequate supply of fresh flowers and packaging materials.
Monitor inventory levels, usage, waste, and shrink to optimize cost efficiency.
Maintain proper rotation (FIFO) and freshness of perishable floral inventory.
Process & Continuous Improvement
Identify operational bottlenecks and implement improvements to boost productivity.
Develop and standardize production procedures to support consistency and training.
Track KPIs such as productivity, throughput, labor efficiency, and shrink reduction.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in production, manufacturing, food processing, or floral operations.
Demonstrated leadership experience managing production teams in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational, scheduling, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in cooler environments as needed.
Knowledge of perishable product handling or cold-chain operations.
Proficiency in basic computer software (Excel macros, scheduling tools, production systems).
Excellent communication skills: bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in floral manufacturing or fresh-cut flower distribution.
Experience supporting major supermarket or retail accounts.
Lean manufacturing or process improvement experience.
Familiarity with seasonal peaks in floral production (Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, holidays).
Knowledge of Netsuite.
