Senior Product Software Engineer – Sr. IZWS Scheduler Expert Capgemini – Chicago, IL (Full‑time)

About the Job You’re Considering

We are seeking an experienced Sr. IBM Z Workload Scheduler (IZWS) Expert to lead and oversee the migration of legacy workload automation tools (CA ESP and CA‑7) to IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS). This role is critical to ensuring continuity, accuracy, and reliability in batch scheduling across enterprise systems. You will collaborate with diverse teams, drive best practices, and enable a smooth transition while fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all stakeholders.

Your Role

Lead migration efforts for batch workload definitions using parallel tracking to ensure accuracy and minimal disruption.

Collaborate inclusively with application schedulers and cross‑functional teams to resolve scheduling issues and dependencies.

Support development‑to‑production migration phases, ensuring compliance and operational readiness.

Perform cleanup of legacy schedules prior to migration for streamlined operations.

Deliver training and knowledge‑sharing sessions to development and operations teams, promoting skill development and confidence.

Analyze scheduler logs (RLOG, JLOG, TLOG) to identify patterns, detect anomalies, and recommend proactive solutions.

Define resolution logic for scheduling issues, including resource contention and job dependency challenges.

Your Skills And Experience

8–12 years of experience in IBM Z Workload Scheduler (IZWS) and legacy schedulers such as CA‑7.

Strong proficiency in JCL and basic mainframe utilities.

Familiarity with Dynamic Workload Console (DWC) and Workload Designer.

Ability to develop and maintain scheduling resources using WAPL (Workload Automation Programming Language).

Deep understanding of job scheduling, dependencies, and resource management in mainframe environments.

Skilled in interpreting and analyzing scheduler logs and reports for troubleshooting and optimization.

Proven experience in migrating from other scheduling tools (e.g., CA‑7, Control‑M, TWS) to IZWS.

Exposure to scripting or automation tools commonly used in scheduling environments.

Knowledge of workload automation best practices for enterprise mainframe systems.
