About Houston ExxonMobil’s state‑of‑the‑art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors. Purpose of Role As a member of ExxonMobil Technology and Engineering global olefins technology organization and manufacturing site technology leadership representative, the BRCP Pyrolysis Principal provides deep expertise in pyrolysis and breadth of experience across related disciplines and business focus areas. This leader advises manufacturing site management on risks and opportunities associated with complex technical or commercial matters. The Principal leads testing and implementation of innovative technology solutions.

Responsibilities

Applies personnel and process safety principles within ExxonMobil facilities.

Maintains and builds organization’s in‑depth knowledge of steam cracking furnace technology.

Drives improvement within ExxonMobil operations through technical contribution and innovation.

Guides identification and implementation of strategic improvement opportunities (process safety, reliability, profitability, and sustainability).

Networks with other global ExxonMobil Olefins sites to share knowledge and increase competitiveness.

Participates with teams of technical professionals in resolving complex technical issues.

Develops less experienced technical professionals.

Position located at Baton Rouge Chemical Complex, potential for short‑term rotation to EMTech Headquarters in Spring, TX.

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum of 8 years process engineering experience.

Minimum of 5 years of olefins steam cracking manufacturing experience.

B.S. in Chemical Engineering or B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with Process Experience.

Ability to use industry olefins technical tools and methods; able to learn ExxonMobil tools; experience with process modelling (such as PRO‑II or equivalent, hydraulic modelling, Olefins yields prediction tools).

Demonstrates strong business acumen and risk‑management judgement.

Effective verbal and written skills (e.g., technical reports and technology rollout presentations at plant sites).

Interacts effectively with all levels of the organization on technical topics.

Leader and self‑starter; takes initiative in applying, developing, and communicating technical issues.

Good presentation skills, capable of communicating broadly across ExxonMobil.

Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Able to develop to high skill level in numerous sub‑specialties of steam cracking furnace technology.

Previous experience in steam cracking furnace technology and manufacturing site technical support.
