Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or related technical field) or equivalent experience/combined education

Expertise with thermal analysis methods and processes (e.g. heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, classical hand calculations)

As a Thermal Engineering Lead on GS, you will:

Lead a team of 3-4 thermal engineers by providing technical oversight, daily tasking, mentoring, and training

Perform detailed thermal design and analysis on spacecraft components and the entire spacecraft thermal system

Provide technical memos and recommendations to support peer and customer reviews

Present design and analysis data to the spacecraft design/engineering team, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical interchange meetings and formal design reviews

Provide review, interpretation, flow‑down, and implementation of program requirements

Provide test support for component‑level and system‑level thermal tests

Desired skills

15+ years of relevant professional experience in thermal analysis of space structures

Experience with analysis and test of thermal environments (e.g., thermal vacuum, thermal cycling, thermal balance)

Experience with engineering level computer programming (e.g. Matlab)

Experience with test engineering, instrumentation, data collection, and\/or test reports

Ability and desire to assume ownership of tasks and quickly and efficiently drive to closure

Willingness to mentor and develop junior engineers

Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills

Ability to occasionally support 24\/7 activities

Work Schedule Information Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $122,900 - $216,660. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
