What We’re Looking For
Full‑time Human Resources Generalist to join our team at the Silver Spring, MD location. The Human Resources Generalist will play a crucial role in supporting the HR department’s functions and contributions to the overall success of our organization. This position will primarily provide support for employee relations, benefits administration, policy communication and adherence, compliance preparedness and reporting, HR system management, employee leave management, onboarding, and off‑boarding of employees. This is a hybrid role, requiring three days in office for the first 60 days, then transitioning to two days in office thereafter. What You’ll Do
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries, policy and procedure questions, and leave requests; build and maintain trust with employees and leadership through consistent, fair communication and administration; refer all employee complaints to the appropriate HR representative. Review and approve employee personnel actions. Send notifications to employees as needed. Manage HRIS functions, including the maintenance and organization of employee personnel and medical files. Ensure all files are audit‑ready and properly maintained. Process accommodation requests by preparing documentation and forwarding to the HR Manager or Director for review and approval. File completed requests in the employee’s medical file and maintain a tracking log for periodic review. Handle FMLA and other leave of absence (LOA) requests by preparing and forwarding them to the HR Manager or Director for review and approval. Maintain proper documentation and tracking logs. Manage the offboarding process for resignations and terminations, including preparing related employee correspondence. Assist with the onboarding process for new hires. Process unemployment inquiries in a timely manner. Refer unemployment investigations to the HR Manager. Oversee day‑to‑day benefit plan administration, including enrollments, changes, inquiries, and terminations. Ensure timely and accurate processing of benefit‑related transactions. Support annual open enrollment activities. Assist with coordination of annual compliance tasks (Annual To‑Dos), such as background checks, CPS checks, and primary source verification for licensed/certified staff. Receive and process workers’ compensation and injury claims. Notify the HR Manager and Director of all reported injuries and maintain the required logs for the annual OSHA guidelines. Assist in preparing HR‑related reports as requested, including EEO, OSHA wage comparisons, and quarterly hour reports. Support special internal projects as needed. Process and forward payroll advance requests to the payroll team. Respond to official garnishment orders in coordination with Payroll, enter deductions into ADP, and share supporting documents with the payroll team. Other duties as assigned. Core Competencies

What We Require
Bachelor’s degree in human resources (preferred), business administration, or a related field. 5+ years as an HR Generalist or similar role. Proficient using HR systems (ADP strongly preferred) and MS Office suite. HR certification (e.g., SHRM‑CP, PHR) preferred. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills. High level of discretion and ability to handle sensitive information. Detail-oriented and organized, with strong time‑management skills. The job will be primarily performed in an office setting. Beginning with three (3) days of mandatory in‑office workdays and two (2) days of remote workdays for the first 60 days, then two (2) days of mandatory in‑office workdays and three (3) days of remote workdays thereafter, subject to change based on departmental and organizational needs.
