Perform quantitative and qualitative laboratory tests on patient specimens per standard formulas and procedures. Analyze test results and prepare samples for testing. Calculate test findings and maintain records. Prepare and validate solutions, reagents, media, stains, and materials. Process and test all specimen types; review and report lab results. Perform operational duties, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of instrumentation. Act as resource to other laboratory personnel. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an approved college/university or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology (or equivalent such as military training as defined by 42 CFR 493.1489). Must meet CLIA regulations for high complexity testing. Prefer 6 months to 1 year of experience as a medical laboratory technologist or clinical laboratory scientist in an acute care facility. Registered or registry eligible within 12 months of hire through an approved agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT, CSMLS). Equivalency evaluation by ECE, NACES, or AICE for non‑US trained personnel within 30 days of hire. Licensure as required by state. Skills Required
Analytical ability to interpret and analyze test results. Interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with all physician office areas. Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate laboratory equipment. Visual acuity to closely examine specimens. Facility Description
DMC University Laboratories (DMCUL) is a regional, integrated laboratory system providing services to eight Detroit Medical Center hospitals. It includes core, specialty and rapid response labs, centralized stat and blood bank labs, and outreach infrastructure covering the entire Southeast Michigan market.
