Job Summary My client is seeking a Business Development Director (Product Strategy & Sales) to own the execution of product sales strategy and revenue growth for complex hardware and software systems in the aerospace and defense sectors. In this role you will drive market expansion, cultivate high-value customer and partner relationships, and build robust pipelines that inform just-in-time product development aligned to customer needs.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute comprehensive go-to-market strategies for existing and new aerospace products to achieve strong market positioning.

Serve as the primary interface between customers/markets and internal cross‑functional teams, including engineering, proposals, and operations.

Partner with Proposal and Contracts teams to shape competitive strategies, pricing models, and technically accurate responses to customer requirements.

Collaborate closely with engineering leadership to define target customer profiles, guide product roadmaps, and align offerings with future demand.

Work with Operations, Finance, and support teams to manage program risk, optimize delivery schedules, and ensure alignment between customer needs and execution.

Lead the full sales lifecycle for complex, high-value contracts across government, defense, and commercial aerospace customers.

Use data, metrics, and storytelling to track pipeline health, conversion rates, and continuously improve business development effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or computer science from an accredited institution (MBA or advanced technical degree preferred).

10+ years of director-level experience leading product sales, business development, or growth teams in aerospace, defense, or advanced technology sectors.

Willingness to travel domestically and potentially internationally (up to ~30%).

Exceptional customer engagement and relationship‑building skills.
