Position Purpose The Director of Supply Planning and Purchasing is responsible for executing bottling operations to meet materials and cased goods inventory targets, supporting efficient operations, cost optimization, and lifecycle management. Leads, directs, and manages the mid‑term planning, inventory management, purchasing, and scheduling teams supporting cased goods production, pack‑ware assembly, contract packaging, direct finished goods import and make‑to‑order operations. Responsible for all aspects of lifecycle management of cased goods and direct materials from master data management through SAP process execution, innovation, launch support, and obsolescence.
Functional Responsibility
Oversees, directs, and manages departmental activities and team performance.
Drives company culture and holds peers and direct reports accountable for constructive behavior.
Develops and implements operational and individual goals to achieve productivity and strategic objectives.
Researches best practices, maintains regulatory compliance, and drives continuous improvement.
Executes departmental financial objectives by preparing budgets, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective action.
Promotes a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
Leads staff preparation for success in a changing environment and fosters innovation.
Addresses employee issues confidentially and reports to HR as appropriate.
Ensures consistent application of company policies, initiatives, and decisions.
Coaches and provides high‑quality feedback through the GPS performance management process.
Essential Duties
Ensures accurate and timely execution of end‑to‑end planning activities and metric analysis.
Assesses current SAP scheduling tools and implements new ERP solutions for efficiency.
Coordinates with operations, winemaking, cellar, suppliers, demand planning, new product development, and customer service to meet inventory and service level targets.
Leads strategic capacity planning and forecasting for operations, warehousing, and materials planning.
Oversees creation and maintenance of master data in SAP, building processes for data integrity.
Ensures on‑time availability and replenishment of materials, glass, and purchased cased goods through planning strategies.
Manages inventory strategy, maximizing turns while minimizing valuation and obsolescence.
Provides leadership for material cost standard development and monthly variance tracking.
Develops metrics and dashboards to measure production planning and purchasing performance.
Leads improvement initiatives to reduce cost, improve service, and enhance asset utilization.
Supports cross‑functional projects with Procurement, Quality, Lean, PMO, and Operations.
Builds strong relationships with functional leaders to implement solutions.
Manages cost‑center budgeting, forecasting, and spending, identifying savings opportunities.
Directs the Supply Planning and Purchasing team, coaching for performance and development.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
10+ years of experience in planning and purchasing.
Progressive team leadership with proven responsibility.
Experience with Lean, continuous improvement, or other operational excellence methodology a plus.
APICS, CPSM, or other certification a plus.
ERP experience mandatory; SAP and S4/Hana preferred.
Expert Excel and Microsoft Suite proficiency; AI a plus.
High energy for process improvement, analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
Excellent communication skills, collaborative, and relational with customers and suppliers.
Strong character and ability to excel in a rapidly growing environment.
Working Conditions
General office.
Occasional travel.
Required to operate a motor vehicle for company business on an infrequent or unexpected basis.

California Pay Transparency Disclaimer: This is an Exempt position. The pay range for this position is $139,182.96 to $217,706.16. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, education, experience, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
