Aircraft Mechanic Instructor Weekend Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM), established in 1969, is a premier institution dedicated to advancing the field of aviation maintenance through exceptional education and training. Position Purpose The

Aircraft Mechanic Instructor

is responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive instruction in assigned courses, ensuring that students grasp both theoretical concepts and practical applications in aircraft maintenance. In addition to teaching, the instructor manages essential administrative tasks, such as maintaining records, assessing student performance, and collaborating with faculty to enhance the curriculum.

Key Duties

Provide engaging and effective teaching in aircraft maintenance principles while developing curricula aligned with industry standards.

Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and offers individualized support.

Oversee administrative responsibilities, including maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Job Responsibilities

Teach classes on a scheduled basis, fostering student engagement and enhancing learning in aircraft maintenance.

Collaborate with program coordinators to develop and refine curriculum, prepare course materials, and schedule classes.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom and laboratory environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly maintained.

Establish and maintain accurate academic and attendance records for each student, submitting documentation as required by institutional procedures.

Proactively notify the Supervisor of any current or potential issues that require immediate attention and implement proven retention techniques to support student success.

Complete assigned performance-based teacher education modules, participating in classroom observations and instructor evaluations.

Attend and/or lead in-service training sessions, faculty meetings, and other mandatory gatherings to ensure ongoing professional development and collaboration with peers.

Assist in managing the inventory of department equipment and supplies, submitting replenishment requests as needed.

Monitor student attendance closely, alerting the Supervisor to any absences that may affect retention issues.

Complete other tasks and projects as assigned by the Supervisor, contributing to the overall success of the aircraft maintenance program.

Required Qualifications

FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate

High School Diploma or GED

Minimum three (3) years of hands‑on experience in aircraft maintenance (special considerations will be given for more diverse experience)

Strong command of both theoretical and practical aspects of aircraft maintenance, with contemporary knowledge and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, performance‑driven, and compliance‑oriented educational setting.

Detail‑oriented, analytical, and highly organized, with the capability to multitask and perform well under pressure.

Demonstrate a high level of integrity, a strong work ethic, and professionalism in all interactions.

Effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong emphasis on customer service in an educational context.

Highly motivated and goal‑oriented, with strong problem‑solving abilities.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, exhibiting exceptional interpersonal skills.

Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.

Exhibits a positive, team‑oriented attitude by remaining flexible and available to work outside of scheduled hours when needed, as directed by the Supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s degree in a related field

Weekend Shift (Four 10‑hour Days)

Friday – Sunday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

One additional 10‑hour day of your choice (for preparation time) – flexible
