We are seeking an experienced Systems Test Engineer to support our growing communications system business within the technology systems market. The work location for this position is Columbia, MD.
Responsibilities
Design, integrate, and deploy R&S Air Traffic Control (ATC) project IP based voice communications systems / subsystems to include analog protocol converters for radio and telephony, networking, and air traffic controller operator and administrator acceptance.
Develop test plans and procedures according to program statement of work, system requirements, specifications, and industry standards.
Design systems under test (SUT) / device under test (DUT) to meet testing milestones with internal and external customer coordination
Orchestrate and conduct internal and customer test events within project schedule and budget.
Create, collaborate, and review test cases with attention to requirement validation and customer satisfaction and execute them.
Provide routine internal and external customer updates on testing activities
Generate test reports, problem/defect reports, mitigation plans, and provide input to project risks.
Provide direct support to design and project teams to isolate root causes of issues, provide analysis, and implement fixes that result in compliant deliverables.
Develop necessary test automation procedures and scripts.
Work with engineering teams to maintain verification requirements traceability matrix (VRTM).
Work closely with the system test teams based in Europe, North America, and other global locations for different testing activities following project needs.
Support testing needs from project initiation to closeout, bringing a validation and customer satisfaction first mindset
Qualifications
B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or relevant engineering degree.
5+ years of systems test experience in telecom/networking industry with strong understanding of process, development and execution of US Government test programs.
Configuring and analyzing VoIP networks, computing infrastructure, software deployments
Proficient in relevant business tools including MS Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint.
Proficient with requirements management tools such as DOORS, etc.
Proficient with project orchestration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, MS Teams
Proficient in Linux OS configuration, installation and debugging (CentOS or Oracle), as well as VM’s.
Ability to travel to customer sites for installs and acceptance testing.
Proactive, analytical, detail-oriented and self-managed.
Comfortable working in an international team and without formal direction.
In order to be considered, candidates must reside in the US and be a US citizen capable of receiving a US Government security clearance.
Networking skills on Cisco switches or similar (Certifications like CCNA from Cisco), including knowledge on protocols such as SIP, RTP, SNMP
Experience with VoIP networking and telephony tools, such as wireshark, and other performance testing tools, to include WAN and SATCOM simulators
Experience with scripting tools, analysis, test and measurement equipment, such as spectrum analyzers.
Experience with configuring and testing legacy telephony circuits (SS1/4, Shout/Voice lines, Single Frequency, etc.) and related audio connections.
Familiarity with ED-137 standards
Compensation The total compensation for this position is $105K-$150K. Total compensation includes base salary, variable pay (when applicable) plus benefits. The range is determined by the position, geographic location and level. Individual pay within the range is determined by several factors including location, education or training, relevant work history, sales incentive structure and job-related skills.
