Principal High Voltage Specialist – Avangrid
Base salary range: $52.24 – $65.30 per hour. Comprehensive benefits package with overtime pay, holiday pay, and a generous bonus scheme.

Barnstable, MA office with field work in Martha's Vineyard.
Job Summary The Principal High Voltage Specialist supports the Operations and Maintenance of the Vineyard Wind 1 Offshore Wind Generating Facility. This position reports directly to the High Voltage Engineering Manager at the Barnstable, MA O/M Facility and is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of all on‑site O/M activities related to Balance of Plant works for the offshore wind generation facility.
Job Duties
Execute safe operations on managed onshore and offshore transmission assets.
Become Authorized Person under company safety rules in accordance with OSHA and BSEE standards.
Carry out High‑Voltage switching operations under the direction of a System Operator.
Comply with company policy to implement Lockout/Tagout provisions on system isolations.
Perform de‑energized verification testing of electrical transmission circuits and apparatus using approved work methods.
Determine appropriate locations and install personal protective grounds in accordance with approved work methods.
Hold “Clearance” for responsibility of work on the Primary (High‑Voltage Network).
Review switching schedules to be accurate and correct for the work to be performed under a Clearance.
Provide oversight and safety observation of contractor works under a Clearance.
Ability to read and interpret One‑Line operating diagrams.
Have thorough understanding and knowledge of electrical work scopes and associated hazards to take responsibility for oversight and management of work crews.
Perform planned and unplanned maintenance activities on HV electrical equipment and associated protection and control systems.
Work in accordance with relevant procedures, processes and technical literature.
Efficiently troubleshoot, perform corrective actions, fault identification and data collection for abnormal system conditions.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
5-7 years of O&M or Commissioning experience within High‑Voltage Electric Power Generation, Transmission or Distribution.
Experience operating, installing, testing and maintaining HV/MV electrical apparatus.
Authorized Person under Company Safety Rules, or Qualified Electrical Worker capable of becoming Authorized.
Journeyman License from a recognized Utility or Apprenticeship program preferred.
Up‑to‑date or willingness to acquire GWO and HUET with CA‑EB.
Maritime experience preferred.
Must be flexible with regard to working patterns.
Basic computer & reporting skills.
Communication & supervisory skills.
