Job Title Engineering Lab Manager
Reporting To Management, General Engineering
Work Schedule Onsite – East Aurora, New York (Buffalo, NY)

Support Core Business by enabling fast execution in the development portion of programs
Improve processes by testing new approaches and mindsets
Support emerging customers that require flexible, fast engagement
Responsibilities
Own and maintain lab space, equipment, tools list, conduct inventories, and track ownership
Work across electronic and actuation disciplines (Electro‑Hydraulic, Electro‑Mechanical, Electronic control)
Set up instruments and run tests (ATP, qualification, development, integration) end‑to‑end, including fixture development, cabling, hydraulics, power, and data collection
Independently execute hardware testing and document results
Measure electrical parameters with lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, power supplies, and data acquisition systems
Document test procedures, instrument configurations, and results; raise technical issues to engineers when appropriate
Build and repair equipment such as cable assemblies, harnesses, and breakout boxes
Maintain lab cleanliness and enforce standards; return tools and keep work areas presentable
Manage supplies and consumables, including placing orders and coordinating replacements
Train and mentor technicians or engineers on lab processes and setups
Qualifications
Associate’s or technical degree in EE, ME, or related field or equivalent practical experience
3+ years hands‑on experience in an engineering lab or test environment supporting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems (actuator testing experience preferred)
Ability to access U.S. export‑controlled information
Proven ability to set up, instrument, and execute tests independently (DAQ, oscilloscopes, power supplies, current probes)
Experience building and verifying cable assemblies and basic wiring harnesses
Comfortable working with medium/high‑voltage systems and adherence to safety procedures
Strong organizational skills for inventory management and lab provisioning
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and good judgment for escalating issues
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Additional Skills
Experience with actuator motion testing, power electronics, motor drives, or motion control systems
Familiarity with DAQ/test automation tools (e.g., LabVIEW, NI DAQ)
Prior responsibility for lab upkeep, inventory systems, procurement, or tool management
Working Conditions & Expectations
Onsite role with moderate physical activity (lifting, moving fixtures, hydraulic fluids, electrical equipment)
Occasional off‑hours tests may be required
Primary responsibility for enforcing lab cleanliness and organization; point of contact for lab tools and equipment
Close collaboration with design, product, and project engineers in a fast‑paced prototyping environment
