Senior Project Engineer – Industrial Wastewater Systems Location:

Hybrid | Greater Wausau, Wisconsin (Hybrid preferred)

Remote with periodic travel:

Salary Range:

$125,000 – $150,000 annually

This role blends hands‑on engineering with strategic leadership—guiding major wastewater projects from concept through commissioning for clients in the food, beverage, and industrial manufacturing sectors.

You will join a growing, collaborative team that delivers custom treatment systems focused on efficiency, sustainability, and operational reliability. Your technical leadership will directly support clients’ compliance and performance goals while advancing innovative water reuse and energy recovery strategies.

This position offers autonomy, variety, and purpose. You’ll work in a fast‑paced, engineering‑led environment that values initiative and continuous improvement. Projects span feasibility studies, detailed design, permitting, and hands‑on commissioning—so you’ll see the full lifecycle of your work and its real‑world impact.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and execution of large‑scale wastewater treatment and water reuse projects.

Collaborate with internal engineering teams, vendors, and clients to define scope, deliverables, and technical strategy.

Engineer comprehensive treatment systems utilizing technologies such as anaerobic digestion, membrane bioreactors (MBR), dissolved air flotation (DAF), nutrient removal and recovery, and biogas and energy recovery systems.

Oversee all phases of design and documentation, from feasibility and permitting to start‑up and commissioning.

Mentor junior engineers and technicians to elevate technical quality and team capabilities.

Manage project budgets, schedules, and risk to consistently deliver high‑quality outcomes.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience in wastewater treatment design or process engineering.

Demonstrated leadership managing multi‑disciplinary engineering projects.

In‑depth knowledge of biological, chemical, and physical wastewater treatment processes.

Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.

Proficiency with AutoCAD/3D modeling, MS Office, and common project tracking tools.

Proactive, hands‑on approach and passion for creating reliable, sustainable systems.
