Overview The Maître D is responsible for coordinating and managing all reservations, walk-ins, dining room seating, guest assistance, and the overall flow of guests in and out of the Restaurant.
Responsibilities
Set up host stand area, perform side-work and other opening/closing procedures.
Ensure all menus are printed and ready for service.
Take reservations, assist with incoming calls, and answer guest questions.
Solicit food and beverage sales from outside guests and pedestrians.
Plot reservations and accommodate walk-ins to ensure a smooth shift.
Report all breakage, and damage of equipment or furniture immediately to management.
Attend daily pre-shift meetings.
Participate in training sessions or departmental meetings.
Maintain restaurant spaces clean and tidy.
Maintain guest relationships to promote repeat business.
Make quick and efficient decisions based on guest and restaurant needs.
Ensure awareness of all guests’ needs and reservation requirements.
Create and maintain a database with local concierges.
Maintain integrity of service.
Help flow traffic in and out of the restaurant.
Encourage positive social media reviews through dynamic guest engagement.
Act as an ambassador of the restaurant in personality and knowledge.
Engage guests as they arrive and leave to ensure a positive dining experience.
Perform other duties as directed.
Qualifications
Displays a pleasant and cheerful disposition.
Communicates professionally and effectively with guests and team members.
Has basic math skills and can operate department-specific software and applications.
Available to work late nights, holidays, and long shifts if necessary.
Capable of standing and walking for long periods without sitting.
Has 3‑4 years of restaurant experience in high volume and casual dining restaurants.
Has at least 2 years of experience leading a front door team in a high‑volume, fine dining restaurant.
