Job Summary
Under the direction of Guest Screening Services leadership, the Guest Screening Services Representative’s primary focus is to ensure effective delivery of guest screening services to patients and guests of UCSF Health. The role includes greeting, screening, check‑in, and badging of patients and visitors; rounding, surveying, and assisting in waiting areas; troubleshooting customer service challenges and resolving issues for optimal outcomes; escorting guests in wheelchairs; safely moving patients and guests with appropriate training and equipment; prioritizing multiple tasks in a complex environment; training and modeling screening and customer service; and representing the department at UCSF Health meetings. Exemplifying UCSF Health values through exceptional service and following all UCSF Health Policies and Procedures is expected.
Responsibilities
Greet, screen, check‑in, and badge patients and visitors.
Round, survey, and assist in waiting areas as directed.
Troubleshoot and resolve customer service challenges.
Escort guests in wheelchairs and safely move patients and guests, following UCSF training and Transport Department procedures.
Prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively with staff, patients, and families.
Serve as a trainer and model for screening, check‑in, badging, and customer service in line with PRIDE values.
Represent the department and division at UCSF Health meetings when requested.
Required Qualifications
Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
Sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
Solid communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
Strong organizational skills and ability to multi‑task with demanding timeframes.
Working knowledge of organization‑specific and general computer applications.
Discretion and confidentiality in all duties.
Ability to provide wheelchair and walking escort services for patients.
Tolerance of exposure to patients with various outward manifestations of illness or injury.
Strong decision‑making, problem‑solving, and positive attitude.
Commitment to maintaining a positive and supportive workplace environment.
At least two years of related experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in data analysis, project management, and facilitating group work in a hospital environment.
Strong written communication skills for producing reports, documentation, and instructions.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience or training.
