Job Summary:
The Associate Athletic Director for Performance Nutrition is responsible for designing and implementing sports performance and lifestyle nutrition activities to support student‑athlete performance. Activities include consultation in body composition and analysis, supplement intake, injury recovery, weekly education, cooking classes, and travel nutrition. The position will support sport team performance by establishing programming, assist team physicians in recommending vitamins, minerals, and supplements for medical indications, and conduct employee and group goal setting, performance assessment, feedback, and pay recommendations.
Responsibilities are to be carried out on a regular basis with student athletes, coaches, physicians, and staff, and will supervise assigned unit staff.

Recruit, hire, schedule, and mentor employees, interns, and volunteers.
Provide oversight and supervision of planned and customized snacks for identified teams/athletes.
Partner with the Athletics Association's Food Service Director and other dining associates to provide strategic leadership and oversight of nutritional services.
Negotiate third‑party contracts for food service and supply vendors on behalf of the Association to reduce cost and maintain the approved fiscal year budget.
Partner with onsite dining director to ensure optimal nutritional options are available to student‑athletes.
Propose and manage unit budget to ensure proper nutritional needs are met within the Association.
Plan, develop and manage sustainability initiatives for the Association.
Serve as liaison with campus departments and student groups to assist with ongoing vision efforts toward sustainability programs/goals.
Conduct individual medical nutrition therapy for diagnoses such as ulcerative colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, type 1 diabetes, stress fractures/bone health, celiac disease, severe food allergies, body composition management and interventions, and eating disorders/disordered eating.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition Sciences or Dietetics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration; certification/licensure as required by state of practice.
Required Experience Eight to ten years of job‑related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) preferred or encouraged within one year of hire.
Master's Degree in Nutrition or Exercise Physiology.
Specific work experience and knowledge as a Sports Dietitian with NCAA Division 1 athletics strongly preferred.
Abilities & Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively within a multidisciplinary team.
Competence in nutrient analysis and meal planning; knowledge of safe food service practices; knowledge of signs/symptoms of eating disorders; comprehensive knowledge of medical nutrition therapy and therapeutic diet planning and implementation.
Self‑motivated, independent work style; excellent time management, organizational, record‑keeping, communication, presentation, and counseling skills.
