Submarine Senior Systems/Platform Engineer
Full Time San Diego, CA, US 30+ days ago Salary Range
$125,000.00 To $150,000.00 Annually Position Overview
XSITE LLC is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer / Platform Architect to set technical direction and own the architectural baseline for submarine platform capabilities at the hardware–software boundary. You will operate as a technical authority and chief integrator—driving requirements, architecture, and interface governance; coordinating cross-discipline teams; and serving as the primary liaison with government stakeholders and shipboard integration teams. This role emphasizes leadership, decision-making, and stakeholder alignment over hands‑on implementation. What You’ll Do
Own the technical baseline:
Define and evolve CONOPS, system architecture, and interface control; maintain traceability from mission needs to verification evidence. Lead integration by influence:
Orchestrate HW/SW integration across labs, SIL/HIL, and shipboard environments; set entry/exit criteria and readiness gates. Governance & decision‑making:
Chair or support design reviews (SRR/SDR/PDR/CDR), TIMs, CCBs, and technical risk boards; run trades and document decisions. Requirements leadership:
Establish verification strategies and allocation; ensure requirements and ICDs remain synchronized with delivered capability. Stakeholder liaison:
Serve as the primary technical POC with Navy customers, primes, and suppliers; align roadmaps, constraints, and test/sealift schedules. Quality & reliability oversight:
Direct teams building diagnostics, regression suites, and observability; ensure platform reliability and performance targets are met. Digital/MBSE leadership:
Guide SysML modeling, model governance, and alignment with requirements/data artifacts (e.g., DOORS/Jama, Cameo, MagicDraw). Cyber & networks coordination:
Oversee integration for tactical networks and platform cyber posture (RMF/ATO considerations, DISA STIG/SRG alignment). Plan the lifecycle:
Shape the SEMP, V&V/TEMP approach, integration plans, and sustainment strategies; measure progress with meaningful technical metrics. Note: This is a leadership/architect role. Hands‑on coding or bench work is not the primary focus (though you should be able to read logs, designs, and code when needed). Travel:
Occasional lab/shipyard/test‑range events as program needs dictate. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Applied Science, Physics, or related field. 10+ years

Proficiency with requirements management (e.g., DOORS/Jama) and MBSE/SysML practices and governance. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; proven record presenting to government customers and leadership. U.S. Citizenship;

Knowledge of open architecture standards (e.g., SOSA, CMOSS, OMS/UCI) and deterministic comms (MIL‑STD‑1553, CAN, RS‑422/485). Familiarity with DevSecOps/CI/CD at the platform level and enterprise/tactical networking (routing, VLANs, QoS). Cybersecurity/RMF/ATO awareness (DISA STIGs/SRGs) and supply/supplier integration oversight. Exposure to HIL/SIL, digital twins/simulation, and reliability engineering. Success Looks Like
