New England Home magazine is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Print Production Manager to oversee all aspects of print production for our award-winning regional design publications, New England Home (bimonthly), New England Home Connecticut (quarterly), and New England Home Cape & Islands (annually). This role is central to ensuring the highest quality execution of each issue, from ad trafficking through press approval, while supporting internal teams, advertisers, and external vendors. This is a hybrid role expected to work from our South End office on Tuesdays and Thursdays and on event days.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all matters related to print production, including quality control, vendor selection, and serving as the primary point of contact with print vendors.
Oversee ad trafficking and preflighting, working closely with the in-house marketing designer to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Act as account manager and client service representative for advertisers requiring graphic design assistance.
Output, upload, review, and approve final page files for the printer.
Develop and maintain detailed production schedules to ensure on-time issue delivery.
Manage production-related databases and systems.
Assemble marketing lists based on provided criteria.
Prepare issue comp lists for the circulation manager.
Prepare issue closing statements for the publisher to determine final page counts.
Create and manage book maps for each issue.
Serve as on-site IT liaison for production-related needs.
Provide limited graphic design support as needed.
Provide sales support and assist with additional projects and tasks as needed.
Stay updated on print technologies (offset, digital) and industry best practices.
Qualifications
Proven experience in print production within magazine or publishing environments.
Bachelor’s degree in graphic arts, printing technology, or related field preferred.
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
Working knowledge of ad trafficking, preflighting, print workflows, and offset print processes.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite; graphic design experience a plus.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong project management and communication skills and comfort working with internal teams, advertisers, and external vendors.
