POSITION PURPOSE The Territory Business Manager engages with customers to expand American Woodmark’s kitchen and bath cabinet lines across dealers and distributors. This role focuses on growing new businesses to meet and/or exceed sales targets within the assigned territory.

Experience

Proven track record with up to

5+ years

of successful new business development; account and territory management; business to business/outside sales experience in construction, builder materials, or related industry.

Proven track record of success with territory development having shown the ability to exceed sales goals and drive revenue over an extended period.

Proven history of successful territory management.

Skills

Advanced knowledge of web-based search engine utilization

Working knowledge of Microsoft windows-based applications

High levels of strategic thinking

Drive, determination, and discipline of a self-starter

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Excellent presentation skills

Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to be persuasive

The ability to work well in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment

The energy and focus to be goal and results oriented

Excellent organizational skills

Understanding and knowledge of current territory including competition, potential dealers and distributors, local K & B organization groups, etc.

Working knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system for tracking sales, leads, etc.

Education

Undergraduate or graduate degree in marketing, business or related field or comparable professional experience in lieu of degree.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develop and implement a sales growth strategy for assigned home center stores in a specified territory

Develop, support, and improve business relationships with associates and management having focus/influence in cabinetry categories at the store and regional levels to promote sales.

Learn multiple product lines with the ability to effectively train associates on their features and benefits.

Maintain and update in‑store displays as required

Monitor, support, and report on in‑stock product merchandising efforts

Leverage travel and entertainment expense budget to effectively manage territory and promote sales.

Provide leadership and ownership of the customer issue resolution process supporting service and warranty concerns within the territory

Gain understanding of competitors’ products within the marketplace and provide visibility to the organization on offerings, program, pricing, and promotional activity

Regularly analyze CRM tools and company reporting to monitor success and identify opportunities

Participate in store‑sponsored, cabinetry‑focused events

Support other regional initiatives as needed and prioritized by regional management

Submit territory‑specific reporting as required to provide visibility to the organization on account, competitor, and market activity

Align with American Woodmark policies, procedures, and expectations in performing responsibilities of the position

Align with the American Woodmark culture

SCOPED & EXPECTATIONS

Reports to: Regional Sales Manager

Travel Requirements:

Some in and out of town travel is required up to 40%.

Travel is typically by company car and commercial air carrier.

Typically, offices will be out of a Territory Business Manager’s private home; hours will vary as necessitated by business.

Recruitment process may consist of any combination of phone, video and in‑person interviews.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs overhead.

Offers may be contingent upon successful completion of Background Check, Drug Screen, Physical Examination and/or potential Motor Vehicle Check.
