Responsibilities

Design architectural frameworks for large, complex, resilient systems to ensure stakeholder needs, standards, and performance requirements are satisfied.

Provide technical direction for development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of hardware/software system components, including requirement elicitation, analysis, functional allocation, system requirements reviews, concepts of operation, interface standards, and technical/non‑technical assessments.

Assist with automation and optimization of engineering processes.

Diagnose and remediate complex system availability, performance, and information assurance issues in a dynamic, always‑on, mission‑critical environment.

Research, prototype, and develop emerging technologies in partnership with industry OEMs to meet customer needs.

Analyze user requirements and concept‑of‑operations documents to produce system requirements specifications.

Identify and document operational, functional, and technical requirements.

Perform systems engineering assessments (e.g., upgrades, improvements, lifecycle refreshes, migrations, new deployments); develop conceptual designs, implementation work breakdown structures; advise on alternatives and innovative approaches; conduct feasibility studies.

Document designs and changes to infrastructure environments—physical/logical drawings, engineering design plans, implementation plans, transition and test plans, fail‑over plans.

Develop technical documentation such as system architecture, design documentation, functional and performance verification test plans.

Incorporate new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations.

Guide system development and implementation planning through system engineering management plans and integration/test plans.

Act as the technical point of contact with the Government for engineering considerations and to resolve issues, ensuring the technical integrity of deliverables.

Conduct configuration and development activities; lead or conduct testing against established test plans.

Participate in interface definition, design, and changes throughout the life cycle; establish and gain approval for requirements, designs, interfaces, test procedures.

Review and provide input to program and contract WBS, work packages and the integrated master schedule (IMS).

Review and approve system engineering documentation to ensure processes and specifications meet system needs and are accurate, comprehensive and complete.

Conduct quantitative analysis for non‑functional system performance areas such as reliability, maintainability, vulnerability, survivability.

Capture all interface designs in a common interface control format; store interface data in a commonly accessible repository.

Prepare timelines and analysis diagrams illustrating the flow of time‑dependent functions.

Support formal, proactive change control processes for requirements, ensuring stakeholder buy‑in, eliminating ambiguity, and tracking open actions.

Maintain the technical integrity of the system baseline over time, updating it with changes introduced throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

Required security clearance: active DoD TS/SCI with polygraph; U.S. citizenship.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Minimum 10 years of progressive experience; Master’s degree desirable.

Minimum 3 years of experience providing systems engineering services for physical security systems and IT solutions.

Experience eliciting requirements, conducting research, designing, testing, and implementing hardware and software solutions for data‑center and virtual infrastructure technologies.

Strong engineering experience with VMware ESXi & vSphere, Microsoft Windows Server (2016–2019), Windows 10, DNS, DFS, DHCP, WSUS, KMS, Active Directory and Group Policy.

Knowledge of data‑center networking fundamentals (software‑defined data‑center networks a plus) and data‑center storage fundamentals (SAN, NAS).

Experience virtualizing enterprise applications (Active Directory, MS SQL, RHEL, MS SharePoint, etc.).

Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining highly secure, reliable solutions meeting all organizational cybersecurity and information‑assurance requirements.

Experience performing security scans, system updates, and applying security configurations (e.g., DISA STIG/SRGs).

Experience with Data‑center Automation and IaaS, API management, scripting (PowerShell, Python, JSON, Bash, etc.).

Meet DoD 8570 IAT Level‑II requirements.

Strong oral, written, and presentation skills with ability to communicate directly with executive leadership.

Background working with multidisciplinary teams; strong time‑management and organization skills.

Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio is a plus.

Desired / Advantageous Qualifications

Experience with Microsoft SCCM and Operating System Deployment (OSD).

Experience administering OCSP (Axway Validation Authority, Microsoft OCSP Responder).

Experience troubleshooting and optimizing the McAfee suite (Endpoint Security, DLP, HIPS, etc.).

Large on‑premise storage engineering and administration with 3PAR, NetApp, Dell/EMC, Pure Storage, etc.

Experience designing and deploying Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure.

Experience engineering and implementing data‑center and campus area networks and security stacks.

Experience engineering and implementing platforms and services in a software‑defined networking environment.

Experience with DoD IT security requirements including DISA STIG/SRGs.

Understanding of Department of Defense standards and best practices.

Vendor certifications: VMware, Cisco, Microsoft, NetApp, etc.
