Horner & Shifrin is seeking a full-time Bridge Project Engineer in our Structural Business Unit located in our O’Fallon, MO, O’Fallon, IL, Chicago, IL, Rogers, AR, Marion, IL, or St. Louis, MO office. This position requires 5+ years of experience.
Position Responsibilities / Duties
Follow Bridge Practice production and design standards and procedures as delegated by the Project Manager
Perform and check structural engineering calculations of bridges, retaining walls and other transportation infrastructure structures using company, client, and industry standards
Participate in the preparation and checking of structural construction drawings created by teammates to meet firm and client requirements.
Develop and check cost estimates
Participate in the preparation of reports and studies
Position Requirements
Licensed Professional Engineer
Licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois (preferred)
Experience with design and detailing of IDOT or Illinois Tollway bridge projects (firm requirement)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in MicroStation
Knowledge of Structural Bridge Design Software
Previous bridge inspection experience (preferred)
Ability to traverse structural sites, including heights and rough terrain
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Must complete a background check
Educational Requirements Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
Master of Science in Civil Engineering (preferred)
Salary Range Horner & Shifrin, Inc. offers a comprehensive total rewards package and is committed to fair, competitive, market-based compensation. The target salary range for this position is $85,000 to $110,000. Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, and geographic location.
