Acara Solutions is looking for a Senior Software Tools Engineer to work with our partner out in Prescott, AZ who specializes in Aerospace manufacturing.
The position is full‑time and requires full on‑site presence in Prescott, AZ.
Pay Range: $75,000.00/yr – $100,000.00/yr.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain real-time embedded and application-level software for aerospace and avionics products.
Architect and implement GUI-based customer-facing and internal engineering tools with intuitive, user-friendly interfaces.
Develop software using Microsoft .NET technologies including Forms, WPF, and WinUI.
Apply established design patterns such as MVVM, MVC, and MVP to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions.
Interface application software with hardware devices using RS-232, RS-422, USB, and Ethernet communication technologies.
Develop and maintain application installers using tools such as InstallShield.
Support DO-178B/C and DO-330 certification and tool qualification activities.
Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to define, capture, and document software requirements using industry-standard methodologies (epics, user stories, use cases, and requirements management tools).
Provide accurate task estimation, scheduling, and software development metrics.
Produce clear technical documentation and participate in design, code, and verification reviews.
Required Skills / Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in software tool architecture and development.
Strong expertise in C#.
Significant experience with C, C++, and Python.
Proven expertise in GUI-based application architecture and development.
Experience with Microsoft .NET technologies (Forms, WPF, WinUI).
Strong understanding and practical application of software design patterns (MVVM, MVC, MVP).
Experience interfacing applications with hardware and external devices.
Experience developing customer-facing and internal productivity tools.
Experience with DO-178B/C tool qualification (DO-330).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Demonstrated experience working directly with customers to define and document software requirements.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of experience in software tool architecture and development.
Experience with real-time embedded software development.
Experience leading and mentoring junior engineers.
Experience with cross-platform application development (Windows, Linux, macOS).
