Overview
FWI is building a team to administer, maintain, secure, and accredit the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) Academic Network, which provides the IT environment for 100% of DLIFLC teaching and instruction for all students, staff, faculty, and guests. This position will serve as the Government's lead network engineer, bridging wired and wireless network operations, security implementation, and infrastructure troubleshooting to maintain optimal network performance. The Network Engineer IV will lead network performance monitoring, optimization, and testing, implement network security controls, manage IT projects, conduct advanced troubleshooting, and ensure the military language training community receives a stable, secure, and high-performing network that enables uninterrupted language instruction. Work Schedule and Location
Full-time on-site position. Monday through Friday, 7:45 am to 4:45 pm at Presidio of Monterey, Monterey, CA. Responsibilities
Serve as lead Network Engineer for wired and wireless network operations Monitor network performance and conduct optimization testing Implement and maintain network security controls across the infrastructure Configure, operate, and maintain network routers, switches, wireless access points, and firewalls Manage VPN, network access control systems, and RADIUS servers Ensure Academic Network maintains 99.99% availability each month Identify opportunities for improving network efficiencies with emerging technologies May be required to travel (CONUS/OCONUS) Qualifications
BA/BS from accredited college/university with minimum 5 years experience OR AA/AS with minimum 7 years experience OR 9 years relevant experience working with network infrastructure products and solutions Requires one of the following certifications: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP CCNA or CCNP Certification or equivalent Background in Team Management Project Leadership experience Network infrastructure experience Secret level security clearance Benefits
