Regional Director of Engineering MHG Hotels

The Regional Director of Engineering (RDOE) is a strategic business leader for all units within his/her area of responsibility, providing engineering, technical, and consulting expertise and seeking opportunities for improvement within the Engineering function. The RDOE evaluates risks and works within areas of expertise to provide effective solutions. Travel is required to all hotels within the region and/or portfolio.

Responsibilities

Create, update, and implement SOPs and Best Practices for Engineering Discipline in collaboration with all RDOEs.

Lead effort and set direction on training and development in collaboration with all RDOEs.

Lead efforts in Recruiting using all established channels and processes.

Provide solutions and high level technical consultation relating to Preventive Maintenance, Capital Purchasing, Standardized Reporting, ADA/Regulatory Compliance.

Support and direct activities of property engineering leaders related to project management, brand consistency, and enhanced financial performance.

Monitor productivity improvement and operational performance as measured by GSS, executing engineering strategies and monitoring property performance against defined expectations.

Effectively network and manage resources as demonstrated by appropriate utilization of corporate staff and outside consultants (e.g., Accounting, and Avendra).

Own annual review of Capital Plans for assigned region.

Provide problem‑solving expertise in operational and emergency situations.

Provide technical information and support to property engineering leaders.

Identify consultants/contractors, write scope, solicit bids and review bid responses prior to construction.

Direct interface with MHG to address property issues, supporting owners with data and recommendations on how to proceed to solution.

Provide associates with challenging assignments and training opportunities to develop their knowledge, awareness, and skills; anticipate future talent needs based on business plans and develop plans to proactively address skill and resource gaps.

Transfer functional knowledge and develop the engineering skills of other discipline managers.

Actively pursue learning and self‑development to enhance personal, professional and unit growth; keep abreast of newest trends and innovations in the market & industry and share learnings.

Seek and welcome feedback; take action to enhance performance based on experiences & coaching, and learn from mistakes.

Identify processes and technology that create a learning environment; actively participate in professional and internal areas and business council organizations to stay abreast of current developments.

Experience

3‑5 years of work experience in an engineering role, with multi‑property leadership preferred.

Physical Demands This role requires standing for long periods of time, grip, turn and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand‑eye coordination. The job includes movement, lift, carry, push, pull and placing objects weighing less than 50 pounds without assistance and heavier lifting or movement tasks with assistance. The position also requires moving up and down stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders; reaching overhead and below knees, including bending, twisting, pulling and stooping. Other reasonable job duties are performed as requested by Supervisors.
