Mechanical Team Lead

At HDR, we are an employee‑owned firm that thrives on diversity, inclusion, and innovation. Our Mechanical Team Lead will help shape our Building Engineering Services Group, a leader in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and specialized design for a wide range of building types worldwide.

Responsibilities

Assist the Mechanical Section Manager with management and culture of the overall business class by supervising a team of mechanical engineers, EITs, and designers.

Collaborate with other Team Leads, Tech Leads, and the Mechanical Section Manager on work staffing and project proposals.

Provide team leadership focused on technical excellence, quality, recruiting, mentoring, and staff development.

Collaborate closely with mechanical market sector leadership to ensure technical excellence in all key markets including commercial, civic, industrial, federal, water, transportation, healthcare, education, and laboratories.

Function as design lead or engineering project manager for key projects.

Implement, monitor, and support company policy.

Work collaboratively with other team leads, the Section Manager, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers on business class efforts.

Actively encourage and participate in work-sharing and structural practice development with a nation‑wide network of HDR mechanical business class.

Assist the Mechanical Section Manager in the recruitment and growth of the business class.

Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical emphasis.

Experience in the development and management of diverse teams.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Minimum of 7 years experience.

Professional registration, license, or certification may be required based on role.

Strong communication and listening skills.

Ability to handle multiple assignments.

Good leadership and organizational skills.

The expected compensation range for this position is

$117,887.00 - $168,410.00

(full‑time regular positions).
