Trueline is seeking an
Environmental & Real Estate Associate
to join their Boston team. This role offers high exposure to complex environmental permitting, land use strategy, and real estate deals, while working in a tight-knit practice that delivers boutique-style development within a large-firm platform.
What You'll Do as the Environmental & Real Estate Associate:
Provide strategic counsel on Massachusetts environmental law, including permitting, land use/zoning, environmental risk & liability in real estate and business transactions
Advise clients (including developers, industrial/manufacturing foes, utilities, and energy providers) through regulatory compliance, agency enforcement, CERCLA, RCRA, and other state/federal environmental matters
Support or lead real estate transactions—acquisitions, dispositions, leases, development and construction agreements—and collaborate with a small team to deliver high-touch service
Work directly with clients and a lean group structure (typically partner plus 2–3 associates), gaining early, meaningful responsibility and client‑facing experience
Must Haves as the Environmental & Real Estate Associate:
Juris Doctor and admission to the Massachusetts Bar
Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental and real estate law, with strong knowledge of MA permitting, land use, regulatory frameworks
Proven track record handling RCRA, CERCLA, enforcement actions or permitting processes
Real estate transactional experience (e.g. development, leasing, acquisitions/dispositions)
Nice to Haves as the Environmental & Real Estate Associate:
Familiarity with construction law or experience in development agreements
Experience representing clients in complex industries (life sciences, tech, infrastructure)
Prior work at AM Law 200 or larger firms, with deal‑sheet or writing sample as applicable
Interest in long?term growth leading toward partnership (eligibility typically after 7th year; mix of income and equity tracks)
