Responsibilities
Direct the development, review and implementation of strategic plans and initiatives.
Direct audit and inspections of University entities to ensure compliance with regulations and policy while continually assessing the potential for quality and customer service improvements.
Serve as the University liaison with Federal, State, and Local authorities in matters related to EH&S programs. Supports and collaborates on Building Code and Fire Safety/Systems programs.
Review research proposals to ensure that adequate life safety protections are in place and in compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws. Review Lab Safety systems and programs. Steward University Lab Safety policies.
Participate in the design, development and/or presentation of training programs and courses, and other presentations in support of University and departmental mandates and requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Physical science, Life science, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or similar and seven years of experience. Two years of experience must be in a supervisory role.
A valid State of Florida or Georgia Driver’s License or ability to obtain upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a technical degree preferred and five years of experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in Physical/Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or a closely related field and seven years of experience.
Professional certifications, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or comparable credentials, are preferred.
