Compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor Trainee Needed
BayMark Health Services is looking for a dedicated Substance Use Counselor Trainee to join our outpatient treatment program located in Baltimore, MD. The successful candidate will assist patients through marijuana assistance programs and provide techniques for handling opioid addiction. The role involves conducting individual assessments, facilitating group sessions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to achieve the best overall outcomes for patients. Position Overview
Counselor Trainee will be in charge of assisting patients through medically assisting programs and offering techniques for handling opioid addiction. Counselor conducts group sessions and individual sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies. The counselor will evaluate patients’ progress during therapy and collaborate with doctors, nurses, and therapists for patients’ therapy and treatment for best overall outcome. Responsibilities
Conduct individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination Facilitate and establish initial treatment plans for each patient Complete Bio-psychosocial assessment Involve families and significant others in patient’s recovery process when possible Develop aftercare and discharge plans Handle stressful situations and interact with others professionally Perform other related duties as directed by supervisor Qualifications
Currently hold an ADT or ADT‑eligible status in the State of Maryland Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals is a plus Demonstrate a positive, non‑judgmental, accepting attitude toward patient population Have satisfactory criminal background and drug screening results Salary & Benefits
Salary ranges from $44,000 to $80,000 annually. The position is non‑exempt and overtime eligible with prior approval.
