Position Summary The Senior Conformal Coating Engineer leads the development, implementation, and optimization of conformal coating processes for electronic assemblies. This role ensures high‑quality standards, compliance with IPC and MIL‑STD specifications, and supports cross‑functional teams in production, quality, and engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Lead process development and improvement initiatives for conformal coating (manual, automated, parylene, and selective coating).

Define and validate coating parameters, masking techniques, and curing processes.

Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure coating compatibility and performance.

Troubleshoot coating‑related issues and drive root cause corrective actions (RCCA).

Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, SOPs, and validation protocols.

Ensure compliance with IPC‑A‑610, IPC‑CC‑830, J‑STD‑001, and customer‑specific standards.

Support equipment selection, installation, and maintenance (e.g., PVA, Asymtek, SCS systems).

Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians in coating processes.

Participate in audits and customer reviews as the technical subject matter expert.

Monitor process metrics and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

5+ years of experience in conformal coating engineering, preferably in aerospace, defense, or electronics manufacturing.

Strong knowledge of coating materials (acrylic, silicone, urethane, parylene) and application methods.

Experience with automated coating systems and masking strategies.

Familiarity with IPC and MIL‑STD standards for coating and inspection.

Proficiency in CAD tools, MES systems, and statistical process control (SPC).

Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and project management skills.

Preferred Skills

Experience with conveyorized coating and vacuum deposition systems.

Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations related to coating materials.

Hands‑on experience with coating inspection tools (UV light, thickness gauges).

Certification in IPC‑A‑610 or IPC‑J‑STD‑001 is a plus.
