Role Overview RTX is seeking a highly skilled and experienced hands‑on Enterprise Network Architect to join our team. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise‑level classified network architectures that support complex cloud and hybrid cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Azure, AWS, cloud and hybrid cloud connectivity, Cisco and Palo Alto automation, classified networking, and system‑of‑systems engineering. This role requires a forward‑thinking professional who can develop innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of our aerospace and defense operations.

Network Architecture & Design

Design and implement scalable and secure network architectures for hybrid cloud environments, including Azure and AWS.

Develop solutions for seamless connectivity between on‑premises infrastructure and cloud platforms.

Cloud Network Integration

Collaborate with cloud architects to ensure optimal performance and security for cloud‑based applications.

Leverage native cloud networking services to optimize hybrid cloud connectivity.

Automation & Orchestration

Implement and manage network automation and orchestration tools, with a focus on Cisco and Palo Alto solutions.

Drive the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to enhance efficiency and reduce manual processes.

Classified Networking

Design and support secure networks for classified environments, adhering to government standards and compliance requirements.

Implement solutions that ensure data segregation and secure communication in classified systems.

System‑of‑Systems Engineering

Develop and integrate system‑of‑systems solutions to ensure smooth communication and interoperability across various networked systems.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align network designs with overall system requirements.

Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting

Monitor and optimize network performance, ensuring reliability and high availability.

Troubleshoot complex network issues and ensure rapid resolution.

Documentation & Standards

Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of network architectures, configurations, and procedures.

Establish and enforce network standards, policies, and best practices.

Qualifications You Must Have

Typically requires a university degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 10 years of experience, or an advanced degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience.

7+ years of experience in enterprise networking and cloud connectivity.

7+ years of experience with Azure and/or AWS networking services, including VPC, VPN, Direct Connect, and ExpressRoute.

5+ years of experience with Cisco and Palo Alto solutions, including automation tools like Cisco DNA Center and Palo Alto Panorama.

Knowledge of hybrid cloud environments and secure networking principles.

Experience with classified networking and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, RMF, or CMMC).

Familiarity with system‑of‑systems engineering methodologies and practices.

Scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform).

Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Certifications such as CCIE, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer, or Palo Alto certifications.

Experience with software‑defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV).

Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture principles and implementation.

Experience in aerospace and defense industries.

Salary 124,000 USD – 250,000 USD (range representative of all experience levels).
