We’re looking for an Android Engineer to join our Safety Engineering Team (Safety Engineering Mobile and Core – SEMC), which is responsible for increasing trust in Snapchat by proactively protecting our mobile clients and building core security features. Our work directly reduces spam, bots, and harmful content on Snapchat’s mobile apps, helping make Snapchat a safer, more welcoming platform for everyone.
Responsibilities
Push the limits of mobile devices and build great user experiences.
Build smooth, stable, and fun products.
Develop features from design through implementation and launch.
Evaluate technical trade‑offs of every decision and work with design on the best UI and infrastructure practices.
Perform code reviews that guarantee code quality.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to use Kotlin, Java, RxJava, Dagger, and other great tools to build smooth, stable, and fun products.
Able to prioritize duties and work well on your own.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of practical work experience.
2+ years of post‑Bachelor’s software development experience, or Master’s degree in a technical field + 1+ year of post‑grad software development experience, or PhD in a relevant technical field.
Experience with Android application development.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with large‑scale customer‑facing mobile applications.
Experience writing cross platform code in any of the following: JavaScript, TypeScript, C++, etc.
Exposure or experience in building microservices.
Interest in security.

Compensation In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job‑related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.
Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):
Base salary range $157,000‑$235,000 annually.
Zone B:
Base salary range $149,000‑$223,000 annually.
Zone C:
Base salary range $133,000‑$200,000 annually.
This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
