Store Manager – Poway, CA
The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) – a no‑fee program that assists men and women in their rehabilitation journey – seeks a dedicated Store Manager to lead our retail team at the El Cajon Thrift Store. This role is critical to supporting the ARC’s programs through exceptional customer service, efficient operations, and strong teamwork.

Responsibilities
Plan and direct daily operations of the store.
Develop strategies to improve customer service, drive sales and increase profitability as projected by budget and goals.
Ensure customer/donor needs are met; resolve complaints and provide quick, efficient service.
Schedule store employees, ensuring appropriate coverage in the store and donation center; coordinate morning and shift‑change meetings.
Supervise staff to ensure compliance with directives and guidelines.
Interview, hire, and train new employees.
Issue disciplinary warnings, conference reports, employee evaluations, and set goals.
Maintain store condition, inventory levels, and timely completion of regular and accurate rag‑out from the sales floor.
Manage Back‑Room Processing (BRP) to meet daily processing goals.
Ensure adequate change at the start of each day and safeguard cash in registers and safe.
Process paperwork related to Time and Attendance compliance.
Attend Monthly District Meetings and facilitate Store Monthly Meetings to inform personnel of new policies.
Establish and maintain safety measures; conduct weekly store meetings with the team.
Implement loss‑prevention measures.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years of prior retail management or supervisory experience.
Ability to accurately handle POS/cash register operations and cash transactions.
Valid driver’s license with proof of insurance.
Background check clearance, including criminal history and sex‑offender registry.
Effective communication with management, staff, customers, and donors.
Physical Demands
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
Handling of objects such as files, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks, hand trucks, and miscellaneous carts.
Capacity to lift up to 50 lb.
Perform repetitive motion tasks.
Ability to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Schedule Stores operate seven days a week. Schedules are determined by management, and full‑time associates may be scheduled for any shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The Salvation Army complies with all governmental COVID‑19 safety measures and may require mandatory vaccination of staff; exemptions may be considered on religious or medical grounds.
