Clinical Nurse III - Acute Psychiatric Services

Clinical Nurse – Acute Psychiatric Services (APS)
Under supervision, apply nursing concepts while providing routine direct patient care within established policies and procedures in controlled patient care situations.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
Manage medication and collaborate with psychiatrists, behavioral health professionals, and interdisciplinary team.
Advocate for patients and families, provide education, and promote safety and comfort.
Coordinate discharge plans and collaborate with supporting personnel.
Maintain compliance with internal and external regulations pertaining to nursing practice.
Qualifications
Active California Registered Nurse license without restrictions.
Three (3) years full‑time RN experience, of which one (1) year must have been within the last three (3) years.
One (1) year full‑time RN experience within the last three (3) years in the nursing specialty area.
Preference for Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and nationally recognized specialty certification.
Required certifications: Basic Life Saving Certification (BLS); for specialty areas – Advanced Cardiovascular Life Saving Certification (ACLS) and other required specialty certifications.
Ability to travel to alternate locations and possess valid California driver’s license.
Special Requirements
Designation as Disaster Service Worker (DSW) and completion of all DSW‑related training.
Ability to work alternate work schedules, weekend, and holiday as necessary.
Knowledge and Abilities
California Nurse Practice Act, American Nursing Association Code of Ethics, and relevant federal and state healthcare laws.
Current nursing and related medical theory needed to administer nursing care within assigned clinical setting.
Principles and practices of acute and primary care clinical nursing, safety and infection control practices, and basic nursing sciences.
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform physical skills required to deliver patient care, including lifting, transferring, and performing CPR.
Strength to lift, move, and transfer most patients; maintain adequate mobility and coordination.
Fine motor movements for sterile and other procedures.
