Base pay range $28.00/hr - $33.00/hr
The Escrow Assistant is responsible for supporting the Escrow Officer in delivering high-quality escrow services. This role emphasizes the use of technology, strong communication, and collaboration with clients, consumers, and internal personnel, all while maintaining compliance with industry standards and company policies.
Contract to hire
Location: Fully on-site in San Francisco, CA
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm
Pay range: $28-33/hour
Essential Job Functions
Assist with pre-closing preparation and post-closing tasks.
Provide administrative support to the Escrow Officer, including inputting figures, balancing with lenders, handling disbursement of funds, money transfers, preparing documentation, closing transactions, advising customers, and managing funds.
Act as a liaison and maintain communication between customers and all parties involved in transactions.
Review contracts, commitments, and orders in preparation for closing, and assemble necessary documents for file preparation.
Submit post-closing documents to lenders to obtain funding and disbursement approval.
Ensure all parties (buyers, sellers, agents, lenders, borrowers) receive copies of final settlement statements prior to closing, after receiving lender’s final approval.
Coordinate the collection of information to finalize the sale or refinancing of property.
Engage in a company culture that values quality of work and high performance.
Participate in ongoing personal development and stay informed on real estate industry trends.
Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Submit timely requests for PTO and overtime scheduling to management.
Maintain transparent communication with the Escrow Officer and management.
Interact with clients, real estate agents/brokers, attorneys, consumers, lenders, and other transaction parties as needed.
Assist in conducting electronic recordings with local county clerk’s offices.
Escalate complaints to management and maintain records per policies and procedures.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Comply with applicable state licensing requirements.
Basic understanding of escrow law, local city and state requirements.
Familiarity with RESPA, TILA, Dodd‑Frank, and CFPB rules.
Awareness of ALTA Best Practices.
Ability to read, write, and interpret English.
Excellent verbal communication and problem‑solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and escrow production software (e.g., ResWare, RamQuest, AtClose, IClosings, or similar).
Ability to work with mathematical concepts (fractions, percentages, ratios, prorations).
Strong customer service, organizational, and comprehension skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and reprioritize quickly.
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
