About the Role We are looking for an Assistant Fund Controller for CBRE Investment Accounting & Reporting Solutions ("CBRE IA&R"). In this role you will assist the Controller in coordinating fund reporting, tracking deadlines and deliverables, communicating with internal and external stakeholders, and preparing and reviewing fund reporting templates.
What You’ll Do
Support production of fund financial statements and other required financial information, including investor funded and unfunded commitments, asset accrual methodology, and related output.
Maintain shareholder registries and assist with periodic financial statements, audit and tax preparation, and audit review. Perform budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities.
Assist in designing and preparing client presentations related to the fund.
Monitor, compile, and analyze financial data; perform detailed review of monthly property level reports.
Support the daily activities of treasury, cash management, and accounting functions of the fund.
Review and sign-off on fund-level bank account reconciliations.
Ensure all fund transactions are properly posted to an accounting system.
Prepare and reconcile trial balances for assigned funds. In the US, support the preparation of investment and positions reconciliations and daily reconciliation of cash balances. Perform periodic asset payment, cash, and corporate action reconciliations, and prepare templates for fund reporting.
Feed data for client presentations on financials.
Prepare and support the preparation of fund financial statements, investor capital call/distribution notices. Support preparation of IRR and performance reporting models.
Execute processes and procedures while providing feedback on process improvement.
Perform administrative tasks as required.
Troubleshoot issues and ensure internal and external customer requests are managed timely and accurately with a focus on customer service.
Participate and assist with automation efforts, system testing, and implementation-related tasks.
Apply in-depth knowledge of standard principles and techniques to accomplish complex assignments and provide innovative solutions.
Coach others and share in-depth knowledge across multiple job disciplines within the function.
Lead by example and model behaviors aligned with CBRE RISE values, building consensus and convincing others to reach agreement.
What You’ll Need
Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 3-7 years of experience (or equivalent combination of experience and education).
Prior experience in fund-level accounting, preferably with real estate accounting or fund accounting software such as Yardi.
Intermediate knowledge of GAAP and FASB regulations, including financial terms and principles (cash, accrual, full GAAP). Ability to perform intermediate financial analysis.
Solid technical financial skills and knowledge of GAAP, FASB, REIS, IFRS, and applicable in-region or in-country standards.
Confident understanding of real estate terms, definitions, and analytical methodology.
Knowledge of company financial systems and internal/external information sources.
Ability to exercise judgment based on analysis of multiple information sources.
Willingness to adopt new perspectives on existing solutions.
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Advanced organizational skills and an inquisitive mindset.
