Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and three years of related experience with demonstrated success in the field.
Master’s degree accepted.
Proficient with Microsoft Office software and Adobe Acrobat applications.
Excellent internet skills; written and verbal communication expertise; demonstrated leadership, initiative, and interpersonal skills.
Job Summary To provide grant proposal development services to faculty members and research personnel to enable competitive individual and team extramural research funding and facilitate research excellence. Supports faculty in multiple departments and/or centers in all phases of the research proposal process.
Job Duties
Maintain a thorough understanding of biomedical and health sciences research and funding related to UTMB research initiatives and priorities.
Identify and disseminate information about health sciences funding opportunities.
Pursue effective investigators and collaborations for health sciences and other research opportunities.
Work with the Office of Strategic Research Development and the CRO’s office.
Identify new research collaboration opportunities.
Maintain tools as needed to facilitate duties.
Stay current on federal and state funding trends and policies and disseminate information accordingly.
May serve as a backup to support pre-award research activities such as helping with budgets, bio‑sketches, and form packets.
Work with teams of faculty to coordinate chalk‑talks, research progress talks, and planning meetings.
Provide basic proposal editing to faculty members and researchers.
Monitor funding agency changes and priorities and identify funding opportunities suited for faculty members based on their research expertise. Adhere to internal controls and reporting structure.
Perform related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficient with Microsoft Office software and Adobe Acrobat applications.
Excellent written and verbal communication expertise.
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, exhibit initiative, and display strong interpersonal skills.
Supervision
Reports directly to a senior research development or research administration officer with supervision authority.
No direct supervision is expected of this position.
Working Environment/Equipment
Work may involve normal, adverse, or hazardous conditions and varying intensity, frequency, and duration.
May be exposed to occupational hazards such as communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, ionizing & non‑ionizing radiation, hazardous medications, and potentially combative patients.
Salary Range Actual salary commensurate with experience or range if discussed and approved by hiring authority.
