Experienced Clinical Nurse – Coronary ICU Full-time Nights Northwestern Medicine invites you to join our Coronary ICU as an experienced clinical nurse with at least one year of experience. Your role will involve providing evidence‑based, patient‑centered care, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and upholding the highest ethical and professional standards that reflect our Mission, Vision, and Values.

Job Description The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable for the provision and coordination of clinically competent, evidence‑based care for an assigned group of patients. Responsibilities include diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN participates in decision‑making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the unit team to advance patient care plans, achieve exceptional outcomes, and enhance unit operations.

Responsibilities

Advocate Practices in accordance with the patient‑centered care model.

Develops an individualized age‑specific culturally sensitive nursing plan of care based on the nursing process.

Uses a team approach to develop and achieve daily patient‑centered individualized care goals.

Acknowledges and values the contributions of the patient’s significant others as an integral part of the plan of care.

Identifies potential conflict situations and facilitates resolution using established communication channels.

Promotes and protects the health, safety, and rights of the patient.

Maintains a safe environment for patients.

Clinical Expert Advances clinical expertise through continuing education and obtaining specialty certification when eligible.

Enhances skills and abilities to ensure the highest quality patient care.

Educates team members, patients, and students.

Demonstrates critical thinking by integrating knowledge and posing relevant clinical questions when evidence and practice differ.

Sets realistic, measurable goals, prescribes and implements nursing interventions safely and timely.

Develops individualized education plans for patients and families.

Evaluates and documents patient responses, adjusting plans accordingly.

Escalates appropriate interventions and consults experts when necessary.

Participates in team goal formation, implementation, and evaluation.

Delegates and supervises interventions as needed.

Conveys timely and accurate information at hand‑off.

Adheres to ethical standards of practice.

Community Volunteer Participates in one or more volunteer initiatives annually, organized by Northwestern Memorial or independently.

Compassionate Consistently demonstrates interpersonal connections from introduction through discharge.

Proactively addresses patient concerns, such as expected delays in care plans.

Treats patients, families, visitors and staff with respect and dignity.

Facilitates recovery and, where appropriate, supports a peaceful death for patients.

Professionally Engaged Members of professional organizations or participates on Northwestern Memorial committees.

Demonstrates accountability and collaborative practice with co‑workers and other disciplines.

Advances the professional image of nursing and the practice of professional nursing.

Qualifications

Required:

Graduate of an NLN accredited school/college of nursing.

Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or higher.

Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.

Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR through the American Heart Association.

Analytical ability (conceptual and quantitative).

Oral, listening, and written communication skills.

Strong human‑relation skills to collaborate effectively in difficult situations.

Typing proficiency.

Preferred:

Experience in specific clinical areas.

Nursing specialty certification when eligible.
