Senior Physical Therapist, Outpatient Orthopedic
Provides independent physical therapy management of patients under the direction of the Rehabilitation Services Director or designee. Provides physical therapy services in specialized patient care clinics and assists in the development, implementation and review of departmental patient care programs.
Essential Responsibilities
Evaluate patients and interpret findings to determine dysfunction; establish goals and plan treatment; initiate discharge planning; implement treatment plan through direct treatment, delegating portions, and coordinating with other healthcare personnel.
Provide advice and education to patients and families; reassess clinical signs and symptoms regularly to assess effectiveness and progress; discharge patients when maximum benefit is achieved; maintain accurate, timely documentation.
Participate in approved educational and clinical research activities; engage in specialized patient care clinics outside the department; assist in program development and review; perform other duties in staff education, operations, and projects; demonstrate ongoing progress toward professional practice criteria.
Act as an instructor in patient education classes/groups within and outside the department; provide at least one departmental in‑service per year as requested by the Rehab Director; serve as a clinical instructor to PT students; manage complex patients independently with minimal consultation.
Note: Compensation reviews occur routinely; changes to job description or pay status may happen with notice.
Experience Minimum two (2) years experience in physical therapy.
Education
Graduate of an accredited physical therapy curriculum (bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral) with certification in physical therapy or foreign‑trained equivalent.
License, Certification, Registration
Physical Therapist License (California) required at hire.
Basic Life Support required at hire.
National Provider Identifier required at hire.
Additional Requirements
Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Clinical Instructor for PT students (preferred).
