Assistant Superintendent for Business and Finance/Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Job Summary The Assistant Superintendent for Business and Finance/CFO is charged with the comprehensive administration of the district’s business affairs and operational infrastructure. This role integrates financial oversight with the management of support services, ensuring that the district’s physical and fiscal environments are conducive to high-level instructional outcomes.
Responsibilities
Provide the leadership and direction for the administration of school business functions, including budget development and monitoring, long-range financial planning, evaluation of budget requests and fiscal resources, population and financial projection.
Provide leadership, direction and formulate procedures for the administration, organization and operation of educational facilities, pupil transportation, food service and custodial.
Develop and maintain systems for internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the district.
Supervise and evaluate district employees in cooperation with other district personnel in the areas of finance, transportation, food services and safety/security.
Present periodic reports and recommendations to the superintendent and the Board of Education as required and recommendations as deemed necessary.
Provide for appropriate in-service training of personnel in finance, transportation, food services, and safety.
Supervise and serve as the district’s liaison for the contracted transportation services, food services and custodial services.
Work with the superintendent and other appropriate personnel to formulate policies and procedures related to district financial operations, transportation, and food service.
Work with the superintendent and other appropriate personnel to develop a budget for the(s) areas of transportation and food services.
Coordinate and implement district bond activities including finance, investment and capital expenditures.
Respond to inquiries from parents/guardians and patrons regarding transportation, food service, and finance as forwarded from the building administrators.
Ensure that the district is in compliance with the Missouri School Improvement Standards and working toward strategic planning initiatives relating to transportation, food services, and finance.
Assume the responsibility for recommending, administering and executing those policies related to all levels of district business functions.
Arrange for internal auditing of school reports.
Manage the district’s real estate and insurance programs.
Oversee district insurance plans and health care coverage analysis.
Serve on the Superintendent Administrative Cabinet and attend all Board meetings of the Ladue School District.
Must provide personal transportation and be able to travel between district buildings.
Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
Qualifications
Degree in Accounting or Education/School Administration
If an Accounting degree, prefer candidates with a CPA license.
If an Education/School Administration degree, prefer a Doctorate degree and/or SFO certificate.
Prior experience managing business operations and/or experience as a building or district administrator.
Knowledge and experience with business technology systems and accounting applications required.
