Bridge Engineer / Project Bridge Designer

– GFT is seeking a
Bridge Engineer / Project Bridge Designer
to join our Transportation group in Boston, MA. This role follows a hybrid work model and is based in Boston.
What You Will Do As a Bridge Engineer, you will engage in structural design, rehabilitation, analysis, and load rating of bridges as well as the inspection of bridges and tunnels. You will prepare construction documents, specifications, and estimates and support construction services. Day-to-day assignments will be guided by Project Managers and Senior Project Engineers.
Responsibilities
Participate in bridge design assignments involving contract plans, specifications, design calculations, quantity calculations, and cost estimates.
Perform load rating analyses and prepare load rating reports.
Provide office support for construction support services.
Perform bridge and tunnel inspections and prepare inspection reports.
Review shop drawing submittals and organize submittals. Address questions from contractors during the construction phase of projects.
Assist or participate in the preparation of business proposals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
4–6 years of experience in bridge design.
Experience in new bridge design, bridge rehabilitation, load ratings, and/or inspection of bridges.
Proficiency with structural design software such as AASHTOWare BrR, Midas 3D Civil, STAAD Pro, MDX, CSiBridge, LUSAS, and/or other structural analysis software and applications such as MathCAD.
Working knowledge of reading plans and shop drawings and evaluating contractor compliance with construction plans and specifications.
Strong communication skills and ability to work concurrently on multiple projects and transition priorities.
Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and AutoCAD/Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.
Valid driver’s license.
Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Compensation The salary range for this role is
$91,000 - $110,000 ; salary is dependent on experience and geographic location.
