Nordstrom is seeking a full-time
Engineer 2
(Remote) to join our
Selling Empowerment team . In this role, you'll build and maintain software solutions that deliver exceptional experiences for our selling employees and customers. You'll work across the full stack on infrastructure, applications, and services that power our retail technology ecosystem.
About Store Experience Technology (SET) We build the software and hardware that make Nordstrom stores the best shopping, style, and beauty destination in the world. Our team creates tools that empower store employees to delight customers across diverse physical environments and use cases—from point-of-sale systems and handheld alteration devices to stylist tools, curbside pickup systems, and innovative digital in-store experiences.
A day in the life...
Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality software solutions for retail and ecommerce systems.
Collaborate with product and design teams to translate requirements into elegant technical solutions.
Participate in code reviews and pair programming.
Contribute to system architecture and design discussions.
Monitor and maintain production systems, ensuring reliability and performance.
Write clear documentation and uphold technical standards across the team.
Leverage AI development tools effectively while ensuring code quality, maintainability, and alignment with team standards.
Continuously improve development processes and tools.
You own this if you have... Required
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science , Engineering, or equivalent practical experience required
Proficiency in JavaScript (TypeScript/React/Node experience preferred)
Knowledge of or openness to work with additional modern programming languages (Java, C#, Python, etc)
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices, and modern web or backend frameworks
Strong documentation habits and ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful team culture
Openness to feedback and a growth mindset
Preferred
Experience in retail, ecommerce, or logistics technology
Familiarity with observability tools (Splunk, New Relic, etc.)
Experience with or openness to leveraging AI assistants and tools to accelerate development while maintaining code quality
Background collaborating with contract engineers in hybrid team structures
Experience with agile methodologies and remote-first team practices
Passion for mentoring and supporting peers from diverse backgrounds
Drive to improve customer experiences through technology

California: $118,657 - $188,500 Annually, Colorado: $103,000 - $160,500 Annually, Connecticut: $103,000 - $188,500 Annually, District of Columbia: $121,500 - $188,500 Annually, Hawaii: $103,000 - $160,500 Annually, Illinois: $103,000 - $160,500 Annually, Maryland: $103,000 - $188,500 Annually, Massachusetts: $103,000 - $188,500 Annually, Minnesota: $103,000 - $160,500 Annually, Nevada: $103,000 - $160,500 Annually, New Jersey: $103,000 - $188,500 Annually, New York: $103,000 - $188,500 Annually, Rhode Island: $103,000 - $160,500 Annually, Washington: $103,000 - $188,500 Annually.
