Join VINCI Construction as a VIE Environmental Engineer in Chicago. This role supports the Red Line extension project, ensuring environmental compliance, risk assessment, and best practices on site.
What you can expect Reporting to the Project Environmental Manager, you will support environmental compliance and alignment with regulations and corporate commitments.
Responsibilities
Oversee all environmental aspects of construction activities and ensure compliance with the Environmental Impact Management Plan, Construction Process Plans, and HSE regulations.
Support teams with environmental risk assessments and develop site‑specific protocols (spill response, waste management, inspection checklists).
Attend safety meetings, promote strong environmental and safety practices across the site.
Monitor environmental impacts, conduct inspections and audits, and ensure compliance with permits and regulations.
Advise site management on risks and improvements, analyze incidents and near misses, and follow up on corrective actions.
Lead ISO 14001 and internal audits, track action‑plan progress, and maintain updated knowledge of standards.
Deliver toolbox talks, awareness sessions, and emergency preparedness drills.
Organize environmental training, workshops, and the Annual Environmental Week.
Prepare reliable environmental reports, consolidate KPIs and extra‑financial indicators, and improve data‑collection processes.
Analyze environmental and economic impacts to strengthen project performance.
Participate in environmental initiatives, working groups, and test new solutions.
Develop a best‑practice catalogue to support ongoing improvement.
Qualifications
Engineering school or university graduate with a degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Knowledge of environmental audit standards and basic safety programs (firefighting is a bonus).
Proficiency in data analysis, visualization, and storage tools such as Power BI, SharePoint, and Excel.
Structured, self‑driven, and proactive with excellent risk anticipation and improvement proposals.
Strong teamwork and communication skills, with an ability to engage on‑site teams.
English fluency in speaking and writing.
Valid driving licence.
European citizen aged 18–28, fluent in English, no prior VIE or work experience in the host country (VIE eligibility).
