The Director of Operations is responsible for owning, executing, and interpreting policies to ensure the successful operation of the business. This role leads the business group, sets the tone for core values and best practices, and drives business unit success toward goals and objectives. It is a strategic leadership role that ensures alignment with company goals and standardizes practices across the department and company.
Lead, train, and mentor team members and support their professional development
Facilitate monthly 1:1 meetings with direct reports
Oversee business operations, including project coordination and resource scheduling
Ensure projects meet quality, compliance, and delivery standards
Review deliverables for consistency, content, and compliance
Provide technical input on proposals and staffing availability
Generate revenue projections and manage backlog and utilization targets
Provide regular operational and financial reporting
Review invoices and assist with accounts receivable as needed
Foster and maintain relationships with clients
Anticipate market, client, and industry changes and develop mitigation or optimization plans
What Makes You a Great Fit
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Architecture-related discipline
8 years of experience in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or Project Management (design, construction, or forensics)
2 years of business unit leadership and management experience, including staff management, revenue responsibility, growth strategy, hiring/firing, and business development
Understanding of the design and construction process from start to finish
Ability to coach, develop, and mentor team members
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to read and interpret drawings
High level of financial acumen
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Competitive compensation ($140,000–$165,000 salary range)
