Summary The Technical Service Advisor supports bakery manufacturing operations by providing technical expertise related to dough systems, baking processes, product quality, and food safety. This role partners with production, quality assurance, R&D, and customers to troubleshoot issues, optimize processes, and ensure consistent product performance that meets regulatory and customer standards.
Responsibilities
Serve as a technical point of contact for bakery manufacturing operations and customers
Support troubleshooting of issues related to dough mixing, fermentation, baking, cooling, slicing, and packaging
Analyze product defects such as texture, volume, color, crumb structure, and shelf life
Assist with root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards (HACCP, GMPs, SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000)
Support product specifications, formulations, and process parameters
Collaborate with R&D on product trials, reformulations, and new product launches
Support internal, customer, and third‑party audits
Provide technical training to production teams on process controls and quality standards
Document technical findings, recommendations, and continuous improvement initiatives
Assist with customer complaints, technical inquiries, and product performance evaluations
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in food science, Baking Science, Cereal Science, or a related field
Experience in bakery or food manufacturing, technical services, QA, or process engineering
Strong knowledge of bakery processes, ingredients, and equipment
Understanding of food safety regulations and quality systems
Experience with commercial baking operations (bread, buns, pastries, etc.)
Familiarity with yeast‑leavened and/or chemically leavened systems
