Position Overview The Branch Manager – Nursery II is responsible for building a winning team and knowledge base for achieving excellence in all facets of branch operations, including inventory management, team development, customer value, and overall financial performance and growth. The role works in collaboration with area leadership to meet or exceed revenue, customer satisfaction, and associate succession goals.
What You’ll Do
Lead a team and recruit top talent, determining strengths and weaknesses of branch associates. Actively coach and mentor to achieve high performance and facilitate long‑term career development.
Train and coach all branch associates in customer value best practices, fostering a culture of customer obsession.
Create an incident‑free environment by emphasizing daily safety through leading by example and promoting a strong safety culture.
Thoroughly understand and translate company operating and financial data to identify business trends and root causes.
Set effective goals and monitor key performance metrics to assess progress and track improvement initiatives. Implement area strategy and develop a complementary branch strategy to achieve excellent performance, growth, and customer value.
Use and analyze performance metrics to continuously adjust strategies to meet area goals amid changing market conditions.
Partner with leadership and Field Support to understand the impact of emerging technologies and ways of working on business performance, and actively support and lead their implementation.
Skills We Are Seeking
8 to 10+ years of managerial experience, including leadership, issue management, motivation, and team building.
5 to 10 years in a plant nursery environment and/or a degree in Horticulture.
Understanding of sales and operations planning process, demand forecasting, and integration of demand plans and supply plans.
Excellent communication, customer service, and leadership skills.
Ready and willing to learn and adopt new technologies and ways of working.
Working knowledge of business accounting and P&L statements.
Knowledge of market preferences, competition, regulations, and industry trends.
Higher education degree preferred; high school or equivalent required.
