Who We Are
Position Summary As a Safety Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of safety programs, policies, and protocols across our construction projects. You will help lead and mentor safety professionals and collaborate closely with project staff, subcontractor representatives, and management to ensure the highest level of safety standards and practices. Your expertise in safety regulations, incident investigation, risk management, and leadership will be critical in creating a safe and secure work environment.
Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of safety professionals, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
Collaborate with project staff and subcontractor representatives to define safety roles and responsibilities at the project level that align with Beck’s Zero Accident Plan.
Conduct and document pre-planning safety meetings with subcontractor safety representatives and competent person, establishing comprehensive safety procedures aligned with Beck's Zero Accident Plan.
Establish and conduct regular (weekly) safety meetings with subcontractor representatives to promote ongoing safety awareness and compliance.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations applicable to the construction industry.
Conduct thorough investigations and analysis of incidents, accidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and contributing factors. Generate detailed reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
Collaborate with project staff and subcontractors to conduct formal weekly jobsite inspections, documenting safety violations, and implementing corrective measures.
Help enforce Beck’s Drug and Alcohol Policy, including handling site drug testing.
Deliver effective safety training sessions to employees at all levels, promoting a proactive safety culture.
Deliver safety orientation programs for new employees and trade partners, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of safety protocols.
Review subcontractor safety training documentation, verifying compliance with company standards, and providing guidance as needed.
Maintain organized and up-to-date safety documentation, including incident reports, inspection records, and training records.
Qualifications
Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in construction safety, with demonstrated leadership and managerial responsibilities.
Strong knowledge and understanding of local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA standards (29 CFR 1926) for construction safety.
Have attained at a minimum a BCSP CHST or greater designation.
Bachelor's degree in a related field is desired, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficiency in using construction technologies and software, such as Excel, Procore, Bluebeam, and CMIC, is preferred.
